The Scout That Started It All

We get our name - and our character - from Scout Finch, the feisty, intelligent, and thoughtful narrator of Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird. Strong-willed and confident, Scout takes no bull from anyone; She is true to herself and everyone around her, just like us.

Our Favorite "Scout" Quote: "Naw, Jem, I think there's just one kind of folks. Folks."

Meet Ann - Market Owner

Ann and her family moved to Beaufort, South Carolina from the San Francisco Bay area. Local writer, Lanier Laney dubbed Ann "A Southern Enthusiast!" as she has a deep passion for the people and products that originally inspired her love of the South. After years of traveling the great southern states, she was struck by the absence of a retail experience that celebrates the South’s vibrant culture and unique traditions. As a result, we’re open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Favorite Southern Quote: "She's a hot mess."

Meet Victoria - Market Assistant

Victoria and her husband moved to Beaufort from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. She will be quick to correct you if you call her a southerner, as she is a Texan, through and through. She has worked at The Market for 3 years and has loved every minute of it.

Favorite Southern Quote: "Y'all'd've'f'I'd've."

Meet Emma H. - Market Girl

Emma moved to Beaufort with her family from San Fransisco. While she will never forget her West Coast roots, she has fully embraced the south and loves Beaufort and the Lowcountry. Emma has worked at The Market for 2 years.

Favorite Southern Quote: "Bless your heart."

Meet Anna - Market Girl

Anna was born and raised in Beaufort. Growing up in a small town everywhere you go, everyone knows everyone, and while some say thats not always a good thing, Anna loves it; She will miss that feeling dearly when she goes off to college. Anna has worked at The Market for 1  year.

Favorite Southern Quote: "Hey y'all!"

Meet Hammie - Market Guy

Hammie was born in the Washington DC area before moving to Beaufort. He is The Market’s resident bow tie tie-er, and seersucker wearer. He spends his days at work showing everyone that southern hospitality and chivalry is never a bad look.

Favorite Southern Quote: "If you don’t have anything nice to say, come sit next to me."
